I am considering adopting an adult dog who is described as low-energy, is house-trained, and whose favourite activity is sleeping. This sounds like the ideal dog to me, however, I work 8 - 9 hours a day (5 days a week) from 5 pm, until 1 am or 2 am.
This means that I'll be gone for about 8.5 - 9.5 hours a day in the evening to account for commuting.
I can guarantee that several walks and playtimes will happen before I start work, and on my off days! And I will also do short walks when I get home from work.
But does anyone have experience with adult dogs being left alone for long hours at night? Are there any tips and tricks I should know before deciding on following through with the adoption?
Thank you!
