I have an 8 year old Chihuahua and in the past i used to rarely walk her because of the country i lived in (dangerous areas with many stray dogs, one fo them almost bitten my dog). But i now i live in a safer country and try to to walk her every day for about 30-40 minutes. On the internet it says because she’s a small dog she doesn’t have to get long walks but i want to start walking her 2 times a days for 30 minutes each.
I also never taught her any tricks but used to give her toys to play with but she never did. Even if she’s 8 year old now i want to start teaching her tricks and teaching her how to play with toys.
She loves new people despite being a Chihuahua and is always very excited to see everyone.
But i feel bad because she usually lies in her bed all day after or before walking, eating, etc. She only gets out of there when i or someone else comes home to greet us. When I try to get her attention she usually doesn’t get out of her bed because she’s very territorial about it and few toys there. She also often takes out shoes to her bed and doesn’t want to give them back. I know the reason is in her not getting spayed yet but we should do that soon this year.
I just feel bad going to work or doing something in my room while she’s in her bed all day. Does it look like she’s depressed? And what can i do before her getting spayed to make her learn tricks and learn playing?
