Hey everyone, I wonder if you can help
- I have a French Bulldog.
- Ages 5.
- Average weight about 25Kg
- No allergies or obvious problems
- No medication for anything
- No breathing issues (Sores a little but nostrils are good)
- Neutered
- No female dogs live nearby but we live near a park.
Environment:
We houseshare with my inlaws, - Onyx has free movement around the house and sleeps at the bottom of our bed. Doors to the garden are open freely, there has been no change in people not being around. - We have had a few warm days this week (We live in the UK) but we also lived in Spain with him where it's considerably hotter and not had this problem before really
Onyx woke up Tuesday night at 3am - Pacing around our bed, coming right up to our face and trying to get off the bed. He has never had a problem jumping on and off the bed.
Eventually waking us up he spent a good two hours pacing, panting, almost scared (At one point I thought he was blind) - But, fully responsive and alert to my hand singles, just really "Cautious" about jumping, stairs and going down steps in the garden (Two steps, never been an issue)
He went for a wee, had a drink, eventually settled on the bedroom floor (It is warmer and we closed the window as it's spider season) - There was no issues during the day...
Wednesday night, he was fine, no issues. No issues... He has ate, barked, played, everything as normal.
Thursday night (Last night) He woke up at 4:30 - Pacing really bad, panting hard, his body was cool but his head was hot. Again trouble jumping, trouble with the stairs, had a wee and a poo at night, drank water, paced around LOADS, ran around panting loads... Finally managed to sleep at 6:30 ish, he cuddled right up to me in bed and finally fell asleep.
We woke up at 9 - and he started acting funny again, pacing loads, panting, we cleaned his ears, (Being a Frenchie they get dirty, and thought maybe that was aggravating him) - He has had an appetite, he started barking at my mother in law when she got toast, so I gave him two pieces of wholemeal bread and he ate it fast and ready,
When my mother-in-law made a fuss of him, he dribbled a little bit from his willy, - he does have a little pee when meeting new people or gets overexcited with new toys, but this was a little random.
He is responding and happy to come when asked, but - is still very anxiously pacing around,
he normally charges up and down the stairs, but he is taking these very slowly, and is worried about going up and down steps.
my husband has just taken him out for a walk which he was excited about it but was hesitant to get down the step.
I have touched all his body and he doesn't try and shy away, or yelp, or make any flinching.
So weeing, pooing, eating and drinking as normal. Barking, Is alert, (seems hungry)
Not sleeping, panting, pacing, hot head, anxious or hesitant about steps, and jumping off the bed, and is walking around smelling everything.
Any ideas as to what's wrong with him before I lug him to the vets and shell out?
Thanks in advanced
Emily
