We've had two dogs for about the same amount of time, 11 years. They've played together and been friends for what seems a lifetime. Today, we lost our Golden Retriever due to kidney failure and we were going to bring the body home so that her buddy could say goodbye and then bury her down behind our house in a wooded area. However, we have two options, one is to bury her, and the other is to cremate and take the ashes and spread them somewhere that we think she would have loved to be at playing all the time. But the question I have is...do dogs know when they're friend has passed on when they're next to each other? We felt like it was the right thing to do, but we'd also think it would be nice to be able to spread her ashes at a place along a lake or upon a mountain top somewhere. Just thought I'd ask...
