I'm trying to find a WiFi or GPS collar for my outdoor kitty I adopted.
She recently had a bad bite wound on her tail, that got infected, then she disappeared for a week before I could take her to the vet. I was worried sick, and when she finally came back the infection was much worse.
I've done a bunch of research, but been mostly disappointed in what I've found. I really want to try a TabCat tracker for her, but they are out of stock and the new updated batch is not going to be available until early 2022. I'm looking for a temporary, or even long-term alternative. I don't want Bluetooth because of the short-range and difficulty in tracking her through walls if she ends up in somebody else's house (which has happened before).
She's being quarantined in my house until she fully heals (shut off from my indoor-only cats, because I'm worried about heart-worm and things like that). At this point she is pretty much ready to go back outside but I really don't want to let her go outside without a way to track her.
I just found the Pawtrack, and it looks really nice, but it's $50 up front and then a monthly subscription (unlike the TabCat). I don't mind paying the subscription temporarily while waiting for the TabCat, or even long-term if it works really well. Some of the reviews have me questioning the quality though. There are some positive ones out there, but there are some negative ones as well.
Has anybody tried this unit? Or maybe you have another recommendation? Thanks!
