In March I moved back in with my mom to help take care of her and avoid rent. At the time I had my cat from my apartment, so he came to mom's with me. My mom has two senior cats from when I grew up. They're from the same litter so they get along with each other just fine. But it's been more than 6 months and my childhood cats are still not entirely fond of my cat. One of them was very avoiding Tobi (my cat's name) but never showed hostility and jas gotten comfortable sniffing him and being close to him proximity-wise. Her sister on the other hand is still very defensive and on edge about his presence. Tobi is a gentle boy and has never tried to assert dominance or aggression towards our girl cats, he's only attempted to play with them (by hiding behind a box and jump scaring them, to which they get mad lmao), but gets a slap from their paw in return (he still never claws or bites back in so it's of this). Tobi has now learned to create a bubble of space between him and Elsie, so he's aware of her boundary. How can I get her to lighten up or make her feel more comfortable around Tobi?Do I just give it more time?
