How do I get my brand new shelter kitten to relax?? Also, I'm worried I might have made a mistake

I just got two cats from the shelter and brought them home last evening. The kitten has barely relaxed since then. The vet said to introduce them slowly so I spend time with one then the other. When I spend time with the kitten its like someone just injected him with catnip. He's constantly runs all over everything and me.

The reason this worries me is because the other cat, the vet says she's around two years old, is a lot more mellow. Its probably because their is something wrong with her hips and has a hard time walking. She barely even meows. I'm just afraid she wont be able to handle the hyperactive 4 month old kitten.

The only reason I'm worried I made a mistake is because when I went to the shelter to get a cat I got two that weren't in the same cage and they don't know each other yet. And If I knew the kitten would be so hyperative and the other one would be so mellow I may have reconsider things
