Am contemplating leaving a harness semi-permanently on our cat. It's new to him, but he seems to be comfortable with it. He is an indoor cat and we are moving to a new place and new living situation with a few unknowns about doors and windows. Of course we will do all we can to prevent it, but we are thinking about putting a tracking tag on him in the event of an escape.
I know that cat collars should be the break-away style, so in case the collar hangs on something, the cat will not choke. Our cat does not tolerate a collar, and can manage to get it pulled over his chin where it gets stuck in his mouth like a horse bridle. Not good. So far he doesn't seem to have tried this with the harness (maybe he can't).
So the question: Does a cat harness pose a choking danger if it gets caught on something? Certainly, I could imagine if the cat climbed a tree, the harness might hang on something.
