How to prevent hookworms when already in contact?

Hi! So I have one kitty (approx. 4 months) and one dog (9 years), and my roommate brought home a new 11 week old kitten yesterday who is currently on a 3 day treatment for hookworm (we’re on day 2). Obviously we set up an arrangement where the new kitten will stay in a separate room from the other pets, which we planned before we knew we’d be bringing home a kitten with hookworm. We have an extra room with nothing in it that we use as his quarantine room

Unluckily for us, this little booger sneaked from under my roommate’s nose when he was leaving the room, and when I came out of my room later (idk how much later), my cat and his cat were playing and chasing each other.

Now I’m really concerned for my own pets and their possibility of catching the parasite. We tried to prevent it, but now that there’s a pretty dominant risk, I don’t know what my next steps are. I have never run into worms or any parasite issues in the 9 years I’ve had my dog. Can I get over-the-counter medicine and administer it before I know if theres any worms? Should I just play a waiting game?
