My cat (5yo) suddenly went from clingy and cuddly to rabid. It’s been a week now and she still can’t even be in the same room as me.

I have had my cat since she was only a week or so old. She’s always been the most friendly and loving cat I’ve ever known. I’ve always been the one she trusts the most and she is always very close to me. She waits in the window until I’m home and I can see her meowing through the window as I pull in the driveway. When I get inside she runs into my room and waits on my bed for me to sit down so she can lay in my lap.

The other day I got home from work and she did the usual and snoozed on my lap and purred while I scrolled on my phone. Then I got up and went out into the living room and about 30min later she walked out and slowly walked up to me with her hair standing up and her ears back, yowling and hissing at me. I’ve never heard her hiss or anything like that in her life. We tried to calm her down but if I even stepped near her she would go absolutely rabid. We tried all night to get her into her kennel so we could take her to the vet but we couldn’t. The next morning we finally got her to the vet (my sister took her because if I even stepped near her she would hiss and yowl) and they looked at her and said everything was normal, she wasn’t in any obvious pain or sick and was being chill. She’s up to date on her shots, she’s fixed, she’s literally never been outside for more than a few seconds and her blood and urinalysis tests came back normal.

It’s been 8 days and she is mostly normal with my sister but if I walk towards her she hisses and growls. She looks at me like I’m not even human, she sits off in the distance and stares at me with wide eyes and has to keep me in her sites at all time if we’re in the same room. She’s eating normally and going to the bathroom regularly.

Does anyone have any experience with this? It’s honestly making me so sad because she’s always been my best friend 🥺 I didn’t do anything different that day. Same clothes, didn’t go anywhere besides my office, no new scents or hair style. The vet is kind of puzzled as well
