We got a dog (a beagle) like 4 years ago. Everything was fine until recently. My parents decided to move to an apartment in another city, because it's closer to where they work. But they also left the dog with me in this old house (mainly because the landlord didn't allow for dogs in that apartment).
Normally I'd be happy to have a dog by my side, but inconveniently enough, I now go to university, which is also located in yet another city. So almost every day I have to travel back and forth between that city and my house, feed and take care of the dog. I know some older friends from that city with who I could live, but again, they also don't want me to bring the dog over there.
Imo the best solution is to simply give the dog away (or sell him) to someone who actually wants to have a dog. But my parents don't agree with that, for some some reason they just don't allow me to give him away.
Nowadays my daily routine consists of waking up, feeding the dog, leaving for almost the entire day, coming back in the evening/night, feeding him again, sleeping and repeating. I wish I could take proper care of him but I'm not able to. I wish I could simply give him away to a caring family, but as I mentioned above my family doesn't want that.
What should I do about this situation? How can I convince my parents?
