My parents' outdoor cat of 4 years has gone missing - any tips on how to search?

Hello,

My parents' outdoor cat has gone missing a week ago on Nov. 8, and I am desperately looking for him. I was wondering if anyone knew tips for looking for outdoor cats. He has never gone missing in the 4 years we've had him, has never missed a meal. He disappeared during the daytime, when he usually naps and lurks around the backyard. On the day he disappeared, he ate breakfast but wasn't home for dinner. I have no idea what could have happened. I know some people have told me that black cats (he is black) get taken around Halloween, but it happened a week after Halloween. Since he's neutered, I don't think he left to mate either.

He lost his collar near our fence and isn't microchipped. My biggest bet is that he go lost somehow. Our town is quite safe for stray cats, and since he disappeared in the daytime, it's unlikely a car hit him (speed limit is 25 mph). He's also scared of cars and people, so it's pretty unlikely someone just took him.

So far, I have walked down the streets of all the nearby neighborhoods (about a 1 mile radius) at around 6 PM to 10 PM, but haven't heard a peep. I would call his name and carry his brush and food. I've been kind of counting on the fact that he's vocal, at least at home, but maybe he's too scared right now to make any noise.

I also posted on our town Facebook group, Next Door, and PawBoost. The town doesn't let us put up flyers, but I think I can make a big neon poster to lean on our fence that faces the main road. I've also left out a litterbox he's used. Still no sign of him.

If anyone has any advice, please let me know! I would appreciate it so much. He is my best friend.
