My son really wants to adopt a dog!! but i am not sure

My son is a dog lover, and he is 10 years old.

When he was very young, my husband and I used to bring him to the dog park near our home.

He was exciting every time. He was never afraid of big dogs!!!! ( I were)

Every time we back home, he asked me: If we can adopt a dog?

I just elaborate on him and said: As the law says, we need a certificate to adopt a dog, but we don't have one.

However, those months, he found that all that I said is just a lie...

So he begged me to adopt a dog every day!!! really every day now!!!!

At first, I just refuge him directly, but as time goes by, I become hesitant...

There are the pros and cons, could you give me some opinions?

Pros:

1:My son will be extremely happy.

2:He will have a new friend.

3: He can learn how to take care of others.

4:He can learn to be responsible.

5:He won't annoy me.......

cons:

1:It take lots of time!!!!!!!!!!

2: It costs money!!!!!! ( Even though we don't have economic problems.)

3:I am a little bit afraid of dogs.....
