Everyday starting at 4am my cat meows nonstop for hours until I get up. I know he's seeking attention because I'll check his food bowl and see there's still food in it from last night. He ONLY stops when I get up.
I leave my door open so he can come in and he doesn't. He sits at the door and just cries. A lot of the time the crying doesn't stop when I actually do get up. He'll follow me around meowing and not show me what he wants.
I try to play with him as much as possible, I switch up the toys he plays with. He doesn't play for long before sitting there and just staring at me. Only for him to get the zoomies later, which is a problem because I have downstairs neighbors.
Please help, me I'm at wits end. I've considered giving him up because of this but I just love him too much and I don't trust anyone else with him. I don't know his exact age since I got him from my brother's gfs family. All I know is he is a young adult but was an older kitten when I got him back in April of this year.
We recently got him neutered because he kept peeing on my families clothes. He rarely pees on stuff but now it seems like the crying got WORSE. He's extremely clingy. He follows me around and needs to be in my face most of the day. Even right now, as I am typing this he is laying here staring at me lol.
I suspect he has separation anxiety but I'm not too sure how to go about this. Any thoughts? He has an appointment for the vet in December. What should I do in the mean time? He's causing a lot of trouble for me and my family in the mornings waking us up with his awfully loud crying
