My wife and I rescued a 1 year old cat about 2 years ago, named Rigby. Rigby is the funniest, most unique personality cat I’ve ever owned. He is seriously like our kid more than a pet. Well Rigby had to be rushed to the emergency vet over the weekend because he was having trouble breathing.
Long story short, he has Congestive Heart Failure, which I learned is fairly common in cats. I just brought him home after a few days at the doctor, and am grappling with the knowledge that he most likely has a year at best to live.
We had him checked out about 4 months ago and he got a clean bill of health. He is family to us, we love him more than anything, and I can’t help but wonder if we somehow caught this sooner, we could’ve done more for him than just buying time with medicine.
Please please spend the time and money to get your pets checked out regularly. We’re their entire world, and they mean so much to us, we have to make sure they’re healthy and happy.
