this is going to be long but PLEASE help me out with some advice if you can! Hi guys. About 6 years ago, family and I adopted a dog and totally fell for the whole terrier mix type of sale and the sweet puppy was only weeks old so we really had no idea he was a pit bull. it was completely denied/avoided....We had adopted plenty of large and athletic dog breeds before like vizslas and weimaraners, even dogs from the pound that were slightly aggressive, we have always been patient with them and had positive results from behavioral training. The puppy we adopted in 2015 very quickly became AGGRESSIVE TIMES A MILLION.... I'm talking only a few months old and snarling, biting and growling at family members. He even bit my teen brother unprovoked at around 1 years old, TWO TIMES! My parents have tried everything with this dog. He is still so frightening and I'm terrified to be in the same room as him. Other family members including my brother and I haven't had any attacks since those earlier days. HOWEVER, here's the issue. This dog has attacked and drawn blood on DOZENS of guests. My parents seem to think he's "just so cute and over protective" but he's really terrifying and jumps and BITES, literally trying to maul people whenever he wants, whether he knows them or not. He does things like let's people pet him and then suddenly full blown attacks them, he is strong and can break free easily. soooo the easy solution here would be don't let the dog see anyone who isnt family. my parents are absolutely ignoring this and 10/10 times, he attempts or actually succeeds in attacking who ever my parents "introduce" him to. Nobody wants to come to our home anymore for valid reasons, they know my parents refuse to muzzle or kennel him. Ok so last thing. There will soon be a family members baby and grandfather living with us. My mom wants to let the dog smell the baby. I cant imagine the dangers of this. I know she will try to prove that the dog isn't dangerous when nobody is watching. I just am so lost and anxious now that he will attack a loved one. They never blame the dog, only the victims which is making me even more terrified in case he attacks someone who isn't so forgiving. When a friend of family was over my parent stopped watching their dog and he full forced jumped and attacked her, they yellled at her instead.... He's completely healthy, well fed, walked and exercised regularly
