I've waited 3 years to get a pet despite considering adopting one the entire time. The problem I'm having is how the hell am I suppose to know when I'm ready for a 20 year commitment. I live in southern california in a rent controlled cat friendly apartment. The whole building has cats. Plan on staying here a long time. I want the cuddly company and companionship. I took care of my family dog when I was younger and I'm confident I can take care of a cat. When did you know you were ready for a cat?
