Most guinea pigs are NOT affectionate or loving towards their owners at all. Can you change my mind?

Someone suggested me to get guinea pigs as pets, but I'm not convinced - From my experience, GPs are not interested in human interaction at all unless you give them food. They just socialize with the other pigs you have, and don't care about you unless you got treats, in opposition to other pets who are greatly enjoying human companionship unconditionally.

Most of their supposed ways of showing affection, such as licking you, are sometimes linked to the fact that they like the taste of your skin, and not that they show you love or anything...

Is there really any reason to believe a GP is affectionate towards his owner? I'm personally inclined to say no, but if you can bring me any reasons to believe that guinea pigs can actually be affectionate with humans (outside feeding), I'll make sure to get a pair as my next pet.

PS one last question - does raising a GP since baby (if he was rejected by his mother or something) make him enjoy human interaction? (as opposed to getting an already grown up GP) - Cheers!
