Advice in taking in a new cat

Hi, /r/Pets! Tl;dr at the bottom

Just found out about this subreddit and hopefully, you can help me by giving advice regarding my current situation with my cat.

My cat and I have been living in a small 20 sq. meter studio for 2 years now (got her when she was 4 mos. old) and everything has been fine until recently. I had watched this video where a lady set up a camera, before leaving for a walk, to see what her cat does when she's not at home. Long story short, the cat cried out for the whole 10 minutes and was basically waiting for her to come back. This really strung a cord in me because I basically leave my cat for 12 hours due to work and ever since watching that video, I can't help but to feel guilty for leaving her that long every day. Also, everytime I'm about to reach my door - I hear her meowing already. I just thought she hears my keys or something.

My issue now is should I adopt another cat so they can accompany each other? I can support both of them financially but my issue is with the space. My place is basically just one room, and I know the struggle of having to introduce two cats to each other - and also if the space is enough for them to live with each other.

An advice or two would really help. Thanks!

tl;dr need advice on getting a new cat to accompany my current cat because I leave her alone for 12 hours every weekday due to work and it breaks my heart. My issue is lack of space for proper introduction and wondering if one studio apartment is enough for two cats
