My cat has a lower left mandible growth. It looks like its connected to the bone(from tmj about 2/3 to front of mouth is just growing). My vet says he doesnt know what it is, never seen anything like it. Anyone else ever see a cat jaw get bigger and bulky? Im trying to decide if its worth the thousands of dollars just to diagnose. He is about 13 years of age now. Its like the bone itself is growing and maybe getting less dense, but xrays are hard to read.
Im really at a loss on which direction to go. My vet says CT scan is probably a good next step to determine whats wrong. So far it was just an xray, Not sure if I want to spend essentially a months pay on a CT scan, cuz I dont know if I would take the next step, like removing a lower mandible, or chemo, etc. .
If anyone has run into something like this, or even a decision like this. Does getting a prognosis help? For my own sanity I mean? Or will I feel the same if it is hopeless? Being in the dark about what to expect is scary, but I dont even know if the CT scan will give me any more info or closure that I did what I could.
I know its all personal and subjective. Just looking for any advice or personal stories.
