We are recently adopted a cat into our home with an 8 year old cocker spaniel mix. Dog has been without other animals her life but seems to be getting along with the cat just fine. Cat shows no sign of fear or anxiety and freely explores the home. However, they both sleep with us at night and my dog seems to be forgetting the cat is with us at night? The cat will walk over towards my dog to lay closer to her but my dog will once in awhile jump awake and growl and nip at the cat. I'm not sure how to curb this behaviour and I already noticed my dog has broken skin on my cat with a small mark on her back leg. I'm mortified, but the cat isnt bothered by it (seems superficial and we cleaned it out).
I want them both to enjoy our bed. Any suggestions? Cat with us 1 month.
