Disclaimer, I'm not new to owning animals. I've had pets before: hamsters, birds, and large dogs. I am not a total rookie in that aspect.
I would like a cat but I have really bad allergies. It would also be my first time having a cat, nonetheless a pet on my own. Does anybody know a reliable cat breed that has less dander in their fur, and is ALSO docile? Much of what I have seen shows that oriental breeds are less allergenic but more excitable. My concern is that I don't know how to train a cat so I would prefer one a little more easy going.

Also I would like some recommendations as to reliable sources to find cats? I live in the Central New York region.
