My wife and I are going to be getting our first dog this weekend. We have a private meeting scheduled for a particular dog on Friday, and then an event on Saturday with a bunch of dogs if the private meeting doesn't work out.
We're just curious if there are particular resources we should be looking to for training a dog. For some details, we're looking at dogs age 1-2, and we have a cat whose had some exposure to dogs (he's willing to sit in a room with one, but the ones he's met have bit a bit to energetic for his liking).
We're taking a week off to stay home with the dog, but will then be leaving the dog home during our normal work week (except for 1-2 days a week my wife works from home).
