Hi!
So I am considering getting a new kitten to join our family but I am worried how our two resident adult cats will react.
They are both 7 years old. They were feral for the first month or so of their lives. They get on well with each other and are both very affectionate with us.
However they are very skittish to change. If anyone they don't know comes into the house they will phase into another dimension and disappear.
They will tend to warm to them a bit more over time if they are staying for an extended period.
I've watched videos and read articles on introducing cats to each other (feeding on either side of the door etc.)
The kitten will likely be a Maine coon which I have been told are generally pretty laid back so I am more concerned with how my existing cats will react.
Some questions:
Is introducing a kitten easier than an adult cat?
Is it easier or harder to introduce a new cat to a household with two cats rather than just one?
Would the fact that my cats where once feral and are skittish around change make the process more difficult?
My main concern is if getting a new kitten is going to ruin the relationship I have with my other cats I wouldn't want to go ahead with it.
I would appreciate any advice you may be able to provide.
