I’ve posted in here before about a stray cat I’m adopting. Well, the big move is this week and I’m stressed enough about that, but also excited.
The stray cat I’m planning to take in still lives outdoors. My plan was to get settled in the house, buy some essentials and fun cat stuff, and bring her in a few weeks later.
Then she went into heat. I thought she might be spayed because I’ve known her for over half a year and this is the first heat I’ve seen. But there’s a very fertile male around who has already fathered a litter of kittens. My cat could be next.
I planned to meet with a stray cat specialist and ask a bunch of questions, but the cat needs spaying ASAP. This weekend I’m moving, so I’ve decided to have her spayed next Friday so she’ll actually have a place to come home to. But I still have way too many questions.
Will she be able to get her shots on the same day she’s fixed? What do I do if she’s upset and yowling in the middle of the night? What if she refuses to use her litterbox? What if she want to tear things apart? I work full time and can’t afford that much time off. What if she has a fit when I leave her alone?
I probably sound like such a greenhorn, and maybe even ill-prepared, but I have so much love for this cat. I feel like I can do it, given I know WHAT to do. I just also have a lot of anxiety and stress right now. Please, advice and encouragement is so, so needed. Thank you.
