A couple of months ago I noticed that my cat had a spot about the size of a hand-palm on her abdomen between her hindlegs with no hair except for the fine inner growth. That time I didn't know what caused it, so I called the vet who said that if she was otherwise healthy and normal, I should just keep an eye out on if it spread.
Well I've found the cause now: she is licking it off. It hasn't spread per se, but it's still there, bare as ever. I caught her in the act tonight, about 2 minutes of intense licking and biting the area.
I don't know if I should just let it go, now that I know for sure it's not a fur disease? My new concern is why is she doing it? Maybe something is hurting/itching in the area for some reason, kind of like scratching a mosquito bite bloody. She doesn't seem in distress at all though.
