My parents don't let me have a pet. What should I do?

So, my parents don't let me have a pet. (By the way, we live in an apartment which is ours.)

I'm 17 years old and I'm really tired of their nonsense. For as long as I can remember, I always wanted a pet and when I was about 8 years old, I finally got a turtle.I only had him for about 4 years because I couldn't sleep at night because of him and he was feral (we bought him from a pet store). So, we gave him away for free. I was sad but we couldn't keep him any longer.

For 2 years now I'm nagging them again to let me have a pet (this time I wanted a different type of animal). But they said I can have as many pets as I'd like WHEN I'm moving out. I feel that this is unfair. I told them several things about how good it is to own a pet. But I hear the same excuses over and over again.

For example: 1. "They are smelly." 2. "Who's going to feed it when we're on a trip?" 3. "You can have as many as you can when you move out." 4. "They are loud." 5. "Just no!" 6. "You'll move out soon!" But there are much more.

To begin with, they don't even search after the facts about animals. Yes, I know they cost a lot of money, I know they require caring, I know about vet bills (in my area, they don't cost too much), I know I have to clean it's cage/aquarium/ etc. If I say that if I clean it's living area weekly, then they don't have smell but my parents don't believe me and they gave me the "you're juts trying" look.

But the worst is my mother. When I asked her she gave me, in my opinion, the most infuriating answer: "I just can't physically bear them!" What. The. Fuck?! And "If you get a pet, then I'm (she) moving out!!" That was the point when I no longer could take this. She literally just gathers excuses and not even try to reason them! There was another time when I asked her that maybe she thinks that I'm immature or something like that and she said no. She said that I'm MATURE but *insert just mentioned excuse*.

I told them several times that I'm very lonely and it'd be a great thing to solve this problem (and I am lonely). She said that I should hang out more with friends... What friends?? I have kind classmates but I can only talk with them and nothing more! We don't have that type of relationship to hang out. It's the worst when summer comes. I literally am being alone from 8am to 6pm!!

To add, I never really asked for a dog. They don't even let me have a snail which is one of the most low maintenance pets. I gathered up a fair amount of pocket money, so I could buy it with the supplies and pay for the vet bills without having them involved in. And we usually don't go anywhere far (usually it's a one day trip) and we never go on summer vacations.

I always read about the behaviour of desired animal and always checked the necessary veteranian costs (for example: neutering, shots and treatment costs).

I always tried to choose the low maintenance ones to match my parents thinking but in vain.

What do you guys think?
