My cat is a 10 year old Maine coon and as my siblings and I are going to college within in 4 years of each other, hes going to miss us a lot. He is a very social cat and loves us. Hes a little shy around new people. There is a cat that goes to our porch once a month to tease him. We want to get a Birman after seeing them at a cat show. So we want to get one now to help socialize and keep him happy during our trips/us going to college. We know we want him, but what things should we do ahead of time for him to meet another cat? And what precautions do we take for a birman cat?
