One of our pups is an older gent, and has been fixed for years. However, he’s quite...feisty for his age, and gets frequent “red rockets”. The problem is that he’s experiencing what is apparently called paraphimosis, where his penis can’t retract back into its sheath. The skin literally gets caught and rolls inside out. The only solution is for my husband and I to unroll the skin when it turns inside out and coax the red rocket back in.
At first we thought it was a one time thing, but it’s happened like three times in the last month. When it first happened, we called the vet freaking out, but they said there wasn’t much they could do other than give him an exam next month when he goes in for his check-up.
Just wanted to check with other pet owners and see if anyone else has experienced this problem- thanks in advance!
