Any advice for helping a chunky boy lose weight?

One of my dogs is a Australian cattle dog mix (or, so they tell me), and because of his build and age they estimate a healthy weight for him is about 35 pounds. Just took him to the vet because of an accident and they informed me he was going on 50 pounds.

The thing is i am not sure what to do. My dogs get fed twice, maybe three times a day, they don't have access to food 24/7, and they share pretty well (So I know its not one dog eating all the food)

They do usually get thrown a couple of small milk bones per day, but that is usually it.

I would say about once a week they get a busy bone or many a dentastick or something, but its no more then that.

They both do get one pill pocket every day for meds.

And we almost never give them human food scraps. If we do it is like a piece of bacon shared between them or a tiny bite of steak, but, that is maybe once every few weeks, so i don't think it is a problem with them getting to much food.

The other thing you should know about my dog is despite being only three(ish) years old, he is 90% blind. He is fine on walks, and will run around in the yard a little now that he has gotten more comfortable, but, he is not a dog that gets the zoomies or anything.

I am considering switching both my dogs to a low fat version of their current dog food. (Which is Bil-jac) but I don't know if this would be bad for my dog that is not over weight.

I know the most obvious answer is "Well op, get off your butt and take them on more walks", and that is fair, but, a lack of walks because of winter does not explain him being 15 pounds over weight i would think.

Does anyone have any advice for how I deal with this, or, if i do switch the dog food to the low fat version, will that hurt my other dog who is a healthy weight?
