Background: We got a 4 month old kitten back in November from the local shelter. When we got him he had previously been treated for an upper respiratory infection but his latest check showed all clear. About a month later we take him to the local vet for a check up and because we noticed his left eye was draining some kind of fluid and he was winking a lot. At that point the eye draining was the only symptom and he was otherwise acting healthy. The vet gave us some ointment to rub over his left eye and a prescription of antibiotics. The eye draining cleared up some while he was on the antibiotics but seemed to return shortly after he was finished with the course. Fast forward to about a week ago he started acting less energetic and laying around me. We thought he was just getting settled into the flow of our house. A few days ago he started wobbling and falling down like he was drunk and acting REALLY lethargic. When he would venture around it looked like he was extending his claws for balance or something. We made him an appointment and he was seen today. They ran labs and gave him a look over. They said he showed no sign of an ear or upper respiratory infection. They did blood work and the initial labs came back negative for feline leukemia and some other stuff. The vet said he showed no sign of trauma from a fall or being stepped on. They sent him home with a course of antibiotics and said the rest of the labs will come back Monday. The vet said they couldn't find anything wrong with him and if it didn't clear up in 10 days or so it might be best to take him back to the shelter. He seems worse today than he was yesterday and he's even having some trouble making it to the litter box, which hasn't ever been a problem. Anyone else ever dealt with something like this or might have some input?
