Cats and Dogs

So this is kind of a long story but I will try to keep it short.

We have been having lots of bathroom issues with our dog and cat. The cat is the newcomer to our house (she was brought in July) and while it was rough at first the two get along now and even share a bed.

For about the last month, however, the cat has been peeing exclusively on our guest bed and the dog has been pooping and peeing on the floor outside the guest bedroom. The cat will use the litter box to poop. Tonight, we caught the dog eating from the litter box (already searching for a top entrance replacement) and I am wondering if these could be related or if anyone has any insight as to why they are both having problems all of a sudden.

There have been no big changes in our home. My husband and I aren’t loud, we don’t fight and we have consistent schedules. We have them both scheduled for teeth cleaning and a check up on Friday. Aside from waiting for that visit, i have no idea where else to turn for information so I’m hoping someone has a helpful anecdote or some outsider perspective!
