So today I had my puppy out at the off leash park, I take her there most days to run off some energy and besides being a bit of a puppy style nuisance a couple times she normally get on with the other dogs very well.
Today while we were out another dog walked up beside her and immediately as she looked at him, he got very aggressive and went after her. They were luckily very close to me and I yelled (loudly) at the dogs which distracted the other dog for a second and my puppy bolted away from the situation. She was scared but seems uninjured. The other owner didn't react at all, and then instantly vanished in the couple seconds it took me to get my dog back on leash.
I've never had that issue before, I'm always watching her so that she isn't being a pest (just because I know puppies can be annoying to other dogs) but I didn't see anything abnormal leading up to that, and I am not sure that I reacted well? Is there a better way to break up that kind of issue between dogs?
Also, after the scuffle I put my dog on leash so that she could calm down and I could just check to make sure she wasnt't hurt, but I didn't want to leave on a bad note since she loves the park so I took her to a close by smaller area in the park where she could play around with some other dogs before we left but I don't know if I should have just immediately left with her?
