I adopted a one year old Border Collie last year. He’s been a great dog, and hasn’t had any behavioral or medical problems. Yesterday, I got stuck at work later than I thought. My boss wouldn’t let me go home to let him out to the bathroom, and I couldn’t get any one to let him out last minute. I’m on a very good routine with him, and knew he wouldn’t be able to hold it until I got home, so I accepted the fate that he would pee somewhere in the house. When I got home, I saw he had peed a little by the back door. No big deal, but I also noticed a wet spot on his bed when he got up. I smelled it and it was pee. I thought dogs wouldn’t use the bathroom where they slept, let alone lay in it, so I’m wondering if this should be a behavioral thing I should be worried about. He’s potty trained, and has never peed in the house before, and this one instance was because I made him wait longer than he normally does, so I don’t blame him. But i’m just wondering if this is something dogs do.
