We have a 7 year old and a 3 year old. The youngest has been with the oldest since she was like a pup. They are both 60 pound females. They have started becoming extremely territorial, especially around my girlfriend. While taking out the trash once day, a dog started to attack my GF and the youngest saved the day. Since then when our dogs get into fights, I think a switch flipped in our youngest. When they get into a fight, the youngest seems like she's in it to kill. Once they get into the fights, it's extremely hard for us to get them apart, especially without us being hurt. My GF is only 130 pounds, while I'm 220. I'd really hate for her to get extremely hurt in the process. Today it took me holding down one and my girlfriend hitting the other with a plastic lawn chair. What we don't understand is when they are good, they are fantastic. The youngest is so damn attached to the oldest, almost like a mother-daughter connection. We are desperately looking for advice on what the hell we can do to control this before one of them hurts each other severely or one of us.
TL;DR: Two 60lb female dogs are starting to fight and we aren't sure where to turn. We believe it's a territorial thing over my girlfriend.
