Recently my cat has started scratching and grooming himself a lot. A lot of black dirt drops on my desk and it turns red with water. It also comes off when I brush him. I read that it’s flea poop/dirt. However I don’t see any fleas. He hasn’t been outside for a long time and no other pets live or visit here. So where did it come from? Do I need to take him to the vet or can I attempt to treat it at home? I have never given him a bath, not sure if he will like it.
