I just found this sub and I'm so happy I did. Now, let me explain you what's been going on at my house for the past 2 weeks before the situation gets worse.
I've had Osiris for 4 years now, I think he's 5 or 4 years old. He's not spayed, but he never humps things or pees on the floor, etc. He's the kindest cat ever, he never scratches me, never hisses, he follows me everywhere, he likes giving me kisses and shoving his face in mine. He spent his first year of life in a yard filled with cats and dogs and other critters. I still lived at home when I got him, and my sister has 2 older spayed cats. They got along well, the only thing was that Osiris didn't make any sounds when he meowed. I figured that's just his way of meowing and left it at that. I moved like a year and a half ago, and since I moved he started being a bit more vocal, but other than that, no changes.
Lately I'd been feeling lonely and I started to feel bad for Osiris too, since I work crazy hours, I'm gone since 7AM to 8PM most days. So, I got another kitty, Hades. Hades is spayed, he's 1.5 years old, and is a little dumb, but that's fine. He's also twice Osiris's size. Hades is terrified of Osiris. Hades is also very kind, doesn't scratch, he's just a bit more vocal and a bit more playful. Osiris hates and I mean hates Hades.
I have never heard him hiss before, I have never seen him ready to full on fight before. My friend told me to let them fight and that they'll get over their issues and I did, but Osiris jumped straight at his neck and I got scared they'll really injure each other so I got in between them. I tried shouting and throwing water before getting between them and Osiris wouldn't let go. Hades was, of course, even more terrified.
For now I've been keeping them in separate rooms. Osiris stays in the bedroom for 24h, and then Hades stays in the bedroom for 24h. I don't really know what to do. I didn't think Osiris would hate him so much, he's never acted like this before. And I really don't want to have to give Hades away. Sorry for the long story time.
Can anyone give me any advice? Should I spay Osiris? He's never shown any behavior of being in heat. What do i do?
