My family got a budgie a while ago, maybe a few months ago. He belonged to an elderly lady my mother knew and sometimes took care of and wanted us to have her budgie when she died. She passed away and we got him. I really wanted to have him trust me, but when I put my hand in his cage, he starts to become frightened and starts jumping around his cage chirping trying to get away. I have fed him food from my hand and he's eaten it (he even jumped on my hand for a second the first time I did) but when I try to stroke him or anything he jumps about and bites me. How can I gain his trust and stop him being scared?
