I’m staying with my uncle for a while and he has a 6 year old, badly trained Yorkshire Terrier named Bumble. Bumble has a habit of stealing things that are left lying around and chewing them up - shoes, linen, socks, rugs, underwear, he’ll also go inside open handbags and take anything he can find. He point blank won’t let go and will growl and try to bite whenever someone goes near him - the amount of things that he’s shredded is unbelievable. My uncle’s only way of stopping it is to bribe him with a treat which obviously is a terrible idea. He lets this dog run rings round him and it really angers me. I’ve tried being strict with Bumble but my uncle undoes any progress I try to make because he lets Bumble walk, often literally, all over him. I also feel like it offends my uncle when I tell Bumble off, but this dog needs to be told when he’s being naughty, not bribed with treats. My uncle won’t see reason, can I fix this issue on my own or is it too late?
Tl;dr: my uncle bribes his badly trained Yorkie with treats to stop his awful behaviour. How can I stop this?
