Is "gluten free" cat food held to the same standards (in the US at least) as food meant for humans? In other words, let's assume someone with celiac lost a bet...

There might be cat food in my future. However, seeing as I have celiac disease, I generally have to avoid gluten as much as possible. And, well... I'm stupid, not reckless.

However, since I realize that gluten free cat food is (almost certainly) just a ridiculous marketing gimmick, I want to make sure I'd be contemplating my life choices leaning over a toilet, not laying in a hospital bed.

That said, regardless of what glorious flavor experience I could be in for, is any gluten free cat food out there... well... actually, genuinely, certifiably gluten free?
