For the most part, I'm finding trays that are designed for dogs. I'm not looking for an elevated dish like this or this, but an actual tray that will catch spillage like this one. I'd like to avoid attracting insects by having food knocked on the floor - he's a messy eater.
Problem is, most of them seem to be built for dogs. My last cat was a tall guy and could use that third tray comfortably, but I recently adopted a new cat who's a couple of inches shorter, and he has to stretch awkwardly to get his face in the bowl. Does anyone know a similar product that's either shorter or designed for cats? I tried the Neater Feeder for cats, but he really doesn't seem to like it. I think it's because of the curved / partially enclosed front. He just digs his paws into the bowl and drags the food onto the floor. I ended up putting the too-tall one back out, because he figured out how to stand on his hind legs and rest his front paws on the tray while he eats. Not optimal, but less messy.
