My cat keeps leading me to his full food bowl

I know cats do this a lot but this seems weirder than mist normal situations. My cat will sit in the hallway that leads to my room and to the room he gets his food from, he sits there and meows and when I come near he just starts running to his food bowl and looking back to check that I am behind him. When we get to his food bowl he stares at me and meows and then starts eating and then looks at me. It sounds weird but it feels like he wants me to eat it too or something. he has been doing this for weeks any help would be greatly appreciated
