All of this happened roughly two hours ago. We made the dough and set it out it rise. In the mean time we went to the store to get some extra ingredients. When we got back, we found my dog (1.5 mastiff/pit mix) ate the entire thing which was enough for two pizzas. My friends thought he’d be fine, just a little sick. I, however, consulted the internet to see how harmful it is. VERY FUCKING HARMFUL. At that point, it could have been ingested 30 minutes before we got back. So I’m freaking out, rightfully so, and raced over to emergipet. I did call them ahead of time.
They took him back fairly quickly and explained they were going to try and break it up with a cold flush(?), but if that didn’t work it’d be surgery to remove the horrendous amount of pizza dough. I’m looking at between $700-$2000 in vet bills, and honestly I’ve been crying for the past hour. I love him to death, but GOD, he’s stupid, determined thing that he is why did it have to be pizza dough?!?!?
I had to leave him there and they’re going to call me to let me know how everything went, but I’m hoping the first option works. I’m a college student and the thought of a $2000 bill makes me sick, but I’d do it for him. He’s my best friend. The one who’s been with me through heart ache and joy.
I just want him to be okay. His tummy was so swollen when we got there and I didn’t want to leave him.
