I’m staying with my mom until August and recently found a little kitten (2 months old) abandoned near my house. It was raining and I decided to bring him home. I didn’t have the heart to leave him in the local shelter (the cages are outdoors and it’s always crowded) and my mom was fine with keeping him.
She’s retired and has this big dog (3 years old) that is a little too spoiled, he is a good boi overall but he doesn’t like too socialize much with other animals (it’s strange because she walks him twice a day and often takes him to the dog park) he also doesn’t know how to play nicely and loves to destroy things for fun. He is not aggressive but when we introduced him to the kitten , although he was wagging his tail and didn’t seem like he felt threatened, he tried to grab him like he was one of the toys he loves to destroy. I was scared because our dog is huge. I don’t think he understands that the kitten is alive. I’m afraid to try again and so is my mom. I don’t know what to do. My mom loves animals and she would love to keep the kitten, but I don’t know how can we make things work, I could help her train both until August but I don’t know how and keeping them separated is not an option, our dog likes to be indoors with my mom. I can’t keep the kitten in a box forever. I’m considering finding him a new owner if things don’t work out. He is adorable and deserves a safe and loving home.
