Two and a half years ago I took in four kittens that were born from a stray in my backyard. About six months ago, one of the cats started to lose weight and his hair became greasy. Took him to the vet and they ran the ELISA test which came back slightly positive. The cat has only ever been exposed to his brothers, so I'm assuming if it is FeLV that he got it from his mother. The thing is, I'm worried about it spreading, however since they have only been exposed to each other their whole lives I'd assume that they have all been exposed to it already? Vet said he is dehydrated and he's definitely underweight, but he doesn't seem like he's in pain, he'll still play a chase the laser pointer around.
Is it too early to have him put down? The only reason I could think to do it right now would be to not risk spreading it to the other cats, but since they all came from the same litter and have been around each other for 2.5 years, I would assume they all would have had it? What are your thoughts
Thanks
