My cat is a pretty healthy 12yo that I've had since he was a kitten. He always had a pretty sensitive stomach and would regularly vomit. I've taken him to different vets over the years but once they see that he's drinking normally and not losing condition, that I've tried different kinds of food and so on, they don't really have an answer for me.
He was only eating dry food for the last few years and in the last few months the vomiting was more frequent and by volume it honestly seemed like he couldn't have been absorbing enough calories.
Took him to the vet again, checked weight, amount of water, all seems good. The vet mentions wet food and even though he'd in the past thrown up wet food too, I figured I should give it a shot. Cleaning up tubes of undigested food twice a day was depressing.
Well, it's a miracle. We tried a couple wet foods and different schedules and he doesn't throw up at all when he gets half a tin a day of a plain chicken pate. Any more than that and there's a puddle of puke nearly every time (and wet food puke is disgusting!!).
Have you ever heard of a cat needing a lot less than the typical quantities prescribed on the label? He weighs about 12lbs so according to the chart should be getting one full can.
