So, my French bull dog Luna is being put down tomorrow, she is about 15 or 16 years old. We adopted her from my dad’s friend when she was about 6. I think she was neglected for most of her life because the previous owners went through a nasty breakup and no longer wanted her. She had a lot of loose skin on her neck because that’s where they picked her up and carried her from (she is a small dog) She also had a “husband” named Roco who was a bigger French bulldog and would constantly hog all the attention from her (he died from eating something that pierced his stomach about a year after we got him) She is a really quiet dog and isn’t very active, we don’t give her much attention because she doesn’t really need it or ask for it (which I know regret) but we all still love her.
In the last few months she has lost half her body weight and we believe she has a tumor in her intestine. Over the years she can’t hear or see and pees everywhere despite being house trained because she can’t control it. We have gone to the vet many many times but they don’t know what’s happening and every time we fix a problem a new one pops up. I think it is just her time .
We are taking her to the vet and they are going to put her down with a shot. It is completely humane, but I don’t think I can bear to be in the room when it happens. However I think I will really regret not being with her in her final moments.
What should I do?
