Our cat just got out of the hospital where she was in patient for 5 days due to kidney failure. Turns out, at 6 years old she has significantly advanced chronic kidney disease. Luckily her levels returned to normal and the doctor indicated she can live a normal life with some basic lifestyle changes.
Fast forward to today where we have started feeding her k/d wet cat food to help with her kidney disease, as recommended by the vet. My wife and I have only ever fed the cats dry food due to our other cat needing a hydrolyzed protein diet.
I’m basically living in hell right now. This stuff is the smelliest, most grueling, awful smelling “food” I have ever experienced. We have a three story house and you can smell the food in every single room. Last night I had to get up at 2:30am to throw it away because the smell was so bad my wife and I couldn’t sleep. Help me reddit, what can we do? Is there a less smelly k/d brand? Is there a special feeder or something? Do I have to hire a priest to exorcise all my cat food? All options are on the table, except for getting rid of our cat, because of course not.
TL;DR: The cat food smells like a drunk fish got a stomach bug and puked all over our house and I need help.
