Let me start this off by saying I have ALWAYS been a dog person. I absolutely love dogs. This dog in particular I despise. I have been with my boyfriend for 4 years and I hate myself for not addressing this issue prior to moving in together. Boyfriend has a dog he absolutely adores, a trait I admired when we first started dating. Unfortunately, the dog he loves is stinky and gross.
Prior to moving in together there were habits of his I thought were gross but really none of my business because I wasn’t a permanent resident in his home, ie; dog hair all over the bed, slobber stains, food staining the wall above the dog bowls, even shit literally rubbed on the wall from where the dog didn’t properly poop. Now that we live and sleep together it’s becoming unbearable. This dog is easily 70 pounds, making it impossible to move him off the bed when gets comfortable and insists on sleeping on the pillows. If this dog was small, or even just not as imposing, I would have no problem. Unfortunately, he is an English bulldog and stinks horribly. He just rips fart after fart and it’s disgusting. Boyfriend said I’d get used to it but I haven’t. I hate to seem like the bad guy but I absolutely hate when he sleeps on or near the pillows bc I PUT MY FACE THERE and he’s constantly farting or dragging in shit bc he’s too fat to squat properly. Boyfriend baby’s him so much it’s annoying. if I ask him to move him I instantly become the bad guy and legit feel guilty. I don’t actually hate this dog, he’s very sweet but his habits are disgusting and I’m not sure how to bring it up without being the bad guy. He has his own bed but if he wants up, no matter what is happening or how we’re situated, my boyfriend will accommodate to him even if I end up sleeping in the corner with no blanket. I really just needed to vent.
