My partner and I recently signed a lease for an apartment in Wisconsin. I have a long and storied history with anxiety/depression and have been trying to register my cat as an emotional support animal for two years but my university made it too difficult to collect all of the paperwork and have her in the dorms, especially because I'm from out of state. I've looked into registering her online but all of the websites seem to be kinda sketchy and too money hungry for my taste. What's your experience in having an emotional support animal? What sort of legal things am I likely to run into with my landlord and waiving pet fees?
tldr: I'm depresso expresso and finally have a decent living situation to have a cat. Looking for any advice on emotional support animals and the legalese that comes with them.
